Hemsworth says a longtime friendship with Elba led to Alcott's inclusion — a late-night New Year's chat over drinks where he sketched out a character that hadn't yet made it into the script.

Elba liked the pitch, signed on, and his Alcott quickly becomes the crew's newest element, presenting Tyler Rake with a fresh, hard-to-resist assignment.

Off-screen the actors are pals, but on-screen their chemistry is deliberately edged; director Sam Hargrave paints Alcott as a polished, three-quarter coat–wearing professional with an educated, almost genteel presence.

That refinement makes Alcott a different kind of threat — more debonair, a touch Bond-like — which contrasts sharply with Rake's rougher, more visceral style and produces an intriguing tension.

Alcott, however, is not the ultimate power; in the film's final moments he name-checks a darker figure operating behind the scenes — bluntly referred to as "a gnarly motherfucker."

Having engineered Rake and Nik's recent escape, Alcott immediately offers them another job, and the story closes without resolving whether they'll sign on.

Hemsworth has said Elba brings a distinct charisma and comic spark that teases new possibilities for Rake, and he’s interested in exploring that dynamic if a third film happens.
